Government primary school assistant teachers have been protesting for the eighth consecutive day demanding their reinstatement.
They started protesting in front of the National Museum in the capital since Thursday morning (February 13).
The recommended teachers were seen wearing coffin cloths and taking a stand on the road in front of the National Museum in Shahbagh from 10 am today. At that time, they raised various slogans demanding their immediate appointment.
According to the protesting teachers, they were appointed as per the 2023 rules. While the recommended teachers of the first two phases of the same recruitment process joined the workplace almost a year ago, the appointment of 6,500 recommended teachers of the third phase of Dhaka and Chittagong divisions was postponed for 6 months.
Incidentally, last Thursday (February 6), the High Court cancelled the appointment of 6,531 people who passed the final results of the third phase of the government primary school assistant teacher recruitment in Dhaka and Chittagong divisions. The court ordered re-appointment on the basis of merit.
Earlier, on November 19 last year, the High Court suspended the recruitment process of 6,531 people who passed the final results in the third phase of the Dhaka and Chittagong divisions for the posts of assistant teachers in government primary schools for six months.
