Former Jubo Dal leader arrested from banned village

Police have arrested a man named Abul Hashem Sujan (53) with a foreign pistol and bullets from a brothel in Goalanda, Rajbari. He is the son of the late Ali Mia of Barumuraripur village in Rajbari Sadar Upazila and the former president of Rajbari District Jubo Dal.

It is learned that Abul Hashem Sujan resigned from the Jubo Dal in a press conference in 2018. Later, he became the owner of a large fortune by forming friendships with Awami League leaders and doing various business transactions.

Goalandaghat Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Rakibul Islam said that on Saturday (February 22) at around 3 am, a special team led by Goalandaghat Police Station Sub-Inspector Md. Farid Mia conducted a raid based on secret information. During the raid, Abul Hashem Sujan was arrested from a room inside the Purbapara brothel in Uttar Daulatdia along with a foreign pistol, a magazine and three rounds of bullets.

The OC said that a case under the Arms Act has been filed against the arrested accused at Goalanda Ghat Police Station. The accused will be handed over to the Rajbari court on Sunday afternoon and it is being investigated whether anyone else is involved in the incident.
