The Interim Government’s Chief Adviser, Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres are visiting the Ukhiya Rohingya camp in Cox’s Bazar on Friday (March 14).
After visiting the refugee camp and holding several meetings, the Chief Adviser and the UN Secretary-General will have Iftar with about 100,000 Rohingya that evening.
The Iftar party has been organized at the Rohingya refugee camp on the initiative of the Chief Adviser.
Deputy Press Secretary to the Chief Adviser, Abul Kalam Azad Majumdar, gave this information at a press conference at the Foreign Service Academy in the capital on Wednesday (March 12).
According to government sources, the Iftar program will include various dishes including chickpeas, muri, jilapi, onion, beeguni, pepper, sherbet.
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres is coming to Bangladesh on a four-day visit tomorrow, Thursday (March 13).
Citing the itinerary, Refugee, Relief and Repatriation Commissioner (RRRC) Mohammad Mizanur Rahman confirmed that the UN Secretary-General will arrive in Bangladesh on March 13 for a four-day visit. On the second day of the visit, he will leave Dhaka for Cox’s Bazar at 10 am on March 14.
He also said that the UN Secretary-General will be welcomed at the Cox’s Bazar airport by Advisor to the Interim Government Farooq-e-Azam (Bir Pratik). After that, the UN Secretary-General will be taken to the Ukhiya refugee camp from Cox’s Bazar city. On the other hand, the Chief Advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus will reach the Ukhiya refugee camp by helicopter from Dhaka around 4 pm on the same day.
