For more than a week, the hospital bed was the destination. Finally, our ‘Nirbhaya’ succumbed to death. The 8-year-old child, who was tortured in Magura, breathed his last at around 12:30 pm on Thursday (March 13) at the Intensive Care Unit of the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka.
Earlier, the child had four cardiac arrests (sudden heart failure) on Wednesday. Today, it happened twice. Of these, his heart rate returned about 30 minutes after the second cardiac arrest. Along with the child’s brain function shutting down, his blood pressure was also gradually decreasing. After the third cardiac arrest, he went to the land of no return.
A high-level medical board consisting of expert doctors was formed to save the child. The child was transferred from the PICU of Dhaka Medical College Hospital to the Combined Military Hospital on the evening of March 8 to ensure the latest medical methods and safety. The ISPR and the Press Wing also sought prayers for the child several times. However, all efforts failed and the girl left forever.
It is to be noted that the family alleged that the child was raped on March 6 while visiting her sister’s house in Nijnanduali village in the suburbs of Magura. Then, last Saturday, the child’s mother filed a case with the Magura Sadar Police Station under the Women and Children’s Repression Prevention Act. The child’s sister’s husband, father-in-law, mother-in-law and brother-in-law have been accused in this case. They were already in police custody. The court showed that the sister’s husband, mother-in-law and brother-in-law were arrested in that case and sent them on remand.
