A police SI died while on duty at the Bishwa Ijtema Maidan in Tongi, Gazipur.
The incident took place at the Bishwa Ijtema Maidan in Tongi on Saturday (February 8) morning.
The deceased policeman is Enayet Hossain (48). He is a resident of Barguna district headquarters. He was working in 10 APBN Barisal. He came to Tongi to perform his duties on the occasion of the Ijtema.
According to the police, Enayet Hossain was posted on duty at Ijtema CC No. 737/25, west of the gas main line Arab tent at the Bishwa Ijtema ground, from 8 pm on Friday to 6 am on Saturday. When he felt unwell while on duty around 6 am, his companion ASI Islam Sarkar and other forces rushed him to Tongi Shaheed Ahsan Ullah Master General Hospital, where the doctor on duty declared him dead.
He had been staying at Hyderabad Ramani Kumar Pait High School under Pubail police station since January 28 and was on duty at the Tongi Bishwa Ijtema ground.
Tongi West Police Station OC Iskandar Habibur Rahman confirmed the incident and told Kalbela that a policeman named Enayet Hossain died of a stroke while on duty. According to the hospital documents, it was a natural death. Therefore, the body of the deceased has been sent to his family in his village home without an autopsy.
