Joint forces’ ‘Operation Devil Hunt’ begins in Gazipur

In the wake of the recent terrorist attack in Gazipur, the government has launched a special operation called Operation Devil Hunt across the country. The joint forces launched the operation at the Deputy Commissioner’s office around 10 pm on Saturday.

Earlier, a notification from the Home Ministry said that the operation of this joint force will be conducted to maintain law and order and bring terrorists under the law. The operation has been started across the country including Gazipur from Saturday.

On Friday night, an attack and vandalism took place at the house of former Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque in Gazipur. Several people were injured during the incident. In the wake of this incident, a meeting was held today at the Home Ministry with the law enforcement agencies. The decision to conduct this special operation was taken at the meeting.

Director of the Public Relations Department of the Home Ministry, Faisal Hossain, said that details about Operation Devil Hunt will be announced through a press briefing on Sunday (February 9).

Earlier on Thursday, Advisor Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan said that the weapons looted by the police have not yet been recovered and attempts are being made to use them against the people. Therefore, the joint forces will start an operation to recover the weapons.

He said that although most of the licensed weapons have been handed over to the police, a large part of the looted weapons have not yet been recovered. According to intelligence information, the defeated fascist forces are trying to create instability by importing weapons into the country. For this reason, the joint forces’ operation to recover weapons will start again.

Asif Mahmud said that if any defeated force becomes a threat to the people, strict action will be taken against them. The government will give instructions for this operation from the highest level.
