Attack on police station in Uttara to rescue three students

The protest against the arrest of three students has spread in the capital’s Uttara. Police arrested three students named Akash, Robin and Bappi from a meeting organized by anti-discrimination students on Gausul Azam Avenue Road in Uttara Sector 13 on Tuesday (February 04) afternoon.

After this incident, the students first surrounded the Uttara Purba police station. Later they attacked the Uttara West police station around 7 pm and attacked the police. During the attack, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Mahadev of the police station was beaten up.

Students claim that their detained classmates have been kept in Uttara Purba police station. However, it is known that actually the three students were arrested by the Uttara West Police Station and taken to the custody of the East Police Station. Excited by this, the students went to the Uttara West police station and attacked the police station gate by pelting bricks.

In this incident, multiple police sources have confirmed the attack. Deputy Commissioner of Police (DC) Uttara Division Ronak Jahan admitted the matter during a discussion with the students.

Soon after the incident, Uttara Division DC Ronak Jahan, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADC) Ahmed Ali and Assistant Commissioner Saddam Hossain went to the spot. Later, the police sat in discussion with the students in the computer lab room of Uttara Purba police station. The situation calmed down through negotiations and the students called off the agitation on the assurance of the police.
