Bulldozers begin demolishing Sheikh Mujib’s house

The demolition of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s house at Dhanmondi 32 with a bulldozer has begun. On Wednesday (January 5), around 12:15 am, the angry students started the demolition of the house.

Earlier, the protesters gathered in front of the house and vandalized it. At that time, the house was seen burning.

On the spot, it was seen that several thousand students are standing in front of Sheikh Mujib’s house at Dhanmondi 32. A fire is burning inside the building. In the meantime, the angry students have started the demolition of the house with a bulldozer. At that time, the students present raised various slogans. The situation in the entire area is now heated.

Earlier, a bulldozer was brought to demolish the historic house of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Dhanmondi 32 in the capital. The huge vehicle with a crane entered the house around 11 pm on Wednesday. At that time, the students and the crowd broke the main gate of the Dhanmondi 32 house, the sculpture of Sheikh Mujib, the mural, the doors and windows of the house and many other things. Later, the protesters set it on fire. No one was seen putting out the fire until they entered with a bulldozer.

Earlier, around 8 pm, the students and the crowd entered the Dhanmondi 32 house with a procession. The students and the crowd entered the house with a procession in a tense situation surrounding the previously announced online speech of Awami League President and former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who is in India. At the same time, the students and the crowd were seen vandalizing the house located there.

Earlier, the leaders and activists of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement announced that if Sheikh Hasina gives any speech, Dhanmondi 32 will be bulldozed.

The Anti-Discrimination Student Movement announced a procession program towards Dhanmondi 32 around Sheikh Hasina’s speech. Although the procession was supposed to start from Shahbagh at 8 pm, students started gathering in Dhanmondi 32 area since afternoon.

By evening, a large crowd was seen there and various anti-fascist slogans could be heard being raised. At one stage, the agitated students broke the gate of Dhanmondi 32 house at 8 pm and started vandalizing.
