Police have dispersed the recommended assistant teachers who were protesting by blocking the Shahbagh intersection in the capital.
On Monday (February 10), the assistant teachers who were recommended in the final results of the third phase of the teacher recruitment in government primary schools in the country blocked the road and were dispersed by the police.
At this time, the police lathicharged the protesters. To disperse them, the police fired water cannons and sound grenades. After the protesters dispersed, limited traffic movement began.
The recommended teachers who were protesting said, the verdict that has been given to cancel our appointment is discriminatory. This government is the one who recommended us for appointment. Again, our appointment has been canceled. This is a betrayal of us. We want this verdict to be canceled quickly and our appointment finalized.
An agitator named Sabbir Sadek said, “We will not move from here until our demands are met.”
Earlier, on Thursday (February 6), the High Court cancelled the recruitment of 6,531 people who passed the final results of the third phase of the government primary school assistant teacher examination in Dhaka and Chittagong divisions. The court has ordered re-appointment on the basis of merit. The High Court bench of Justice Fatema Nazib and Justice Sikder Mahmudur Razi gave this verdict.
Earlier, on November 19 last year, the High Court had suspended the recruitment of 6,531 people who passed the final results of the third phase of the government primary school assistant teacher examination in Dhaka and Chittagong divisions for six months.
