Protests continue in Shahbagh demanding appointment in third phase of primary

The candidates of the third phase of the government primary school assistant teacher recruitment program whose appointment was canceled are still holding a sit-in program in Shahbagh in the capital.

On Tuesday (February 11) afternoon, they were seen holding a sit-in program in front of the National Museum in Shahbagh in the capital.

The candidates whose recommendations were canceled continued to chant slogans such as “Who are you, teacher, teacher; No compromise, struggle, struggle; No brokerage, highway, highway; Either give me a job, or take my life.”

The teachers who were recommended for the protest said that the verdict that canceled our appointment is discriminatory. This government itself recommended us for our appointment. Again, our appointment has been canceled. This is a betrayal of us. We want this verdict to be canceled quickly and our appointment finalized.

One protester said, “Our program will continue. We will not move from here until our demands are met.”

Earlier, on Thursday (February 6), the High Court cancelled the appointment of 6,531 people who passed the final results in the third phase of the post of assistant teacher of government primary schools in Dhaka and Chittagong divisions. The court has ordered re-appointment on the basis of merit. The High Court bench of Justice Fatema Najeeb and Justice Sikder Mahmudur Razi gave this verdict.

Incidentally, the third phase of the examination was held in 21 districts of Dhaka and Chittagong divisions. The revised results of the written examination were published on April 22. In this, 46,199 candidates were selected for the oral examination. And this written examination was held at the district level from 10 am to 11 am on March 29 (Friday).

On the evening of October 31, the results of 21 districts of Dhaka and Chittagong divisions were published on the website of the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education and the Directorate of Primary Education. 6,531 people passed it.

Of these, 185 passed in Cox’s Bazar, 641 in Comilla, 812 in Chittagong, 358 in Chandpur, 328 in Noakhali, 137 in Feni, 349 in Brahmanbaria, 327 in Lakshmipur, 288 in Kishoreganj, 241 in Gazipur, 254 in Gopalganj, 597 in Tangail, 309 in Dhaka, 260 in Narsingdi, 184 in Narayanganj, 227 in Faridpur, 208 in Madaripur, 301 in Manikganj, 222 in Munshiganj, 104 in Rajbari, and 199 in Shariatpur.

Then, on November 19, the High Court suspended the decision to issue appointment letters to 6,531 people in the third phase for the posts of assistant teachers in government primary schools in 21 districts of Dhaka and Chittagong divisions. The court issued this order as they were appointed following the quota system. The court also issued a rule.
