Thirteen police members have been closed on charges of extortion from a stone-laden vehicle at Shah Arefin Tiller in Companiganj, Sylhet. They have been attached to Sylhet Police Lines.
They were closed on Monday (February 10) in an office order signed by Sylhet Additional Superintendent of Police (Administration and Finance) Md. Rasselur Rahman.
Sylhet Superintendent of Police Md. Mahbubur Rahman told Kalbela on Tuesday (February 11) afternoon that 13 police members, including the SI of Companiganj Police Station, have been closed on charges of irregularities and corruption. Further action will be taken against them after investigation.
The 13 police members are – SI Khokon Chandra Sarkar and Milon Fakir, ASI Shishir Ahmed Mukul and Shamim Hasan, Constables Nazmul Ahsan, Munna Chowdhury, Naimur Rahman, Tushar Pal, Abu Hanif, Sakhawat Sadi, Sagar Chandra Das, Mehedi Hossain and Kipes Chandra Roy.
Earlier, news was published in various newspapers alleging that Shah Arefin Tiller was standing on the road from a stone-laden vehicle and extorting money from the police. After the news was published, they were attached to the Sylhet Police Lines.
